Desiree and Carl H called me to inquire about remodeling their kitchen. I had remodeled their neighbor’s kitchen the year prior, and they absolutely loved it. They had the exact same floor plan as their neighbor’s house, so they essentially wanted the same layout to their kitchen but with their own twist. Desiree and Carl have a beach house in Ocean City and spend a good deal of their time there, so one of the most important aspects was to create a beach look and feel in their Columbia home.

We tore down the wall between their existing kitchen and dining room (which they no longer used) and created one elongated space. We kept a nice bay window from the former dining room but converted into the sink area, allowing Desiree to showcase a farm sink while also providing a great view of children playing in the back yard. We added a huge island as well as some glass cabinet doors to display some beach themed items. They wanted to use a white shaker style cabinet for the beach look, but were concerned about the cost in such a large kitchen. We were able to find a therma-foil cabinet by Aristocrat that was amazing; unlike any therma-foil I had ever seen. This gave them the look and durability that they wanted, but kept the price right where they needed it to be.

This was a really fun project for us all. I love being to recreate an existing area into something new and fresh, but even more so, I love helping our clients to create the space that they dreamed of!
